This method automatically outputs column names with your row data using BCP. The script writes one file for the column headers (read from INFORMATION_SCHEMA.COLUMNS table) then appends another file with the table data. The final output is combined into TableData.csv which has the headers and row data. Just replace the environment variables at the top to specify the Server, Database and Table name.
I got a table tblScan with some varbinary data. I want to export this table to an XML file so I can insert this in SQL azure with BCP Bulk insert. ( BTW is it even possible to convert varbinary dat...

I have a text file with 6 columns and 200 million rows and none of them is unique. I'd like to import them into a table in SQL Server and want to define an Identity column as primary key. Therefor...
I have a csv file and i need to import it to a table in sql 2005 or 2008. The column names and count in the csv are different from the table column names and count. The csv is splitted by a ';' .
I'm using an xml format file that I generated via bcp, so I don't think that's it. My .bcp file is 20 Gigs! Here's the batch file I'm using: bcp MyInputDB.dbo.mytable format nul S sourceserver\\
Excel uses compression internally when saving a file, that is the most likely reason why you're seeing a much smaller Excel file. I would recommend compressing the .bcp file prior to sending it via email. Use a command line compressor such as 7 Zip. Also, I would recommend using the BCPs Native ( n) or Unicode Native format, via the N option. Be careful using c mode if you have Unicode ...
0 I already know, in a T SQL stored procedure, how to create a file via a bcp command called using xp_cmdshell. Basic example:
The main advantage of this solution over sqlcmd.exe or bcp.exe is that you don't have to hack the command to output valid CSV. The Export Csv cmdlet handles it all for you. The main disadvantage is that Invoke Sqlcmd reads the whole result set before passing it along the pipeline.
I have found an information that it can be done via XP_CMDSHELL command that calls bcp.exe utility. And here the problem begins. This utility is run by user that runs SQL Server process. I have installed a security certificate for that user and I expected that the exported data via bcp.exe utility would be decrypted. But unfortunately it is not.
