Vacuum pump to empty the coolant reservoir. Return hose at pump removed, used county water to give it a good rinse. After that I rinsed it with "Distilled" water, cranked it briefly. I added concentrated prestone yellow jug 2 quarts and one quart distilled water. Add fresh coolant in the recovery tank. Vacuum pump to get the air bubbles out.
coolant reservoir location & fill procedure Coolant reservoir on my 1800 is in front of the back wheel. I had to take the voltage regulator off to pull the reservoir out. To fill the entire system, I left my gas tank on. I put a few small blocks of wood wrapped in washcloths under it to keep it up off the frame about 3 inches.
I know I do not need to bleed my car brakes unless I open the system or the reservoir gets to low and causes air to get in. If there is an opening (loose fitting or cracked line), then fluid will leak out. When I bled the rear brakes on the bike, the air came from the rear caliper and not from the front.
If the reservoir gasket is crimped or brittle it will allow air into the system, obviously causing spongy brakes and fluid loss. this happened to my bike as it was sitting in storage, both the front and rear. It appeared to me that the fluid actually deteriorated the gaskets over time. Of course mine sat for 15 years not 6 months. But still.

When the bike is hot and the reservoir level is full, when on the side stand, coolant seems to be leaking in the top corner if the tank where it is curved and meets the bike.
