I’m in Kyoto for a couple more days and wanted to ask what was the best thing you had here? My friends and I love food and have been eating our way around town. We aren’t really into gourmet dining or Kaiseki meals. We’d love some recommendations and to hear what good stuff you’ve had! So far, my favorites in Kyoto have been Chao Chao Gyoza and Menya Inoichi.
Specifically, I will be leaving reaching Kyoto around 12pm on 12th Jan and leaving Kyoto on the morning of 14th Jan. Therefore, there is only 1.5 days of exploring in Kyoto. I would love to do Arashiyama bamboo forest and Fushimi Inari (red gates) on 13th Jan, which leaves me only 0.5 days for the rest my time in Kyoto.
5 days in Kyoto or 5 days in Kansai? For Kyoto itself, I think 5 days is a reasonable amount of time, but if you're using it as a base for Kansai I would recommend at least a couple more for at least day trips to Nara, Osaka, and Himeji (possibly with Kobe). For Kyoto itself, I answered almost this exact question a couple of years ago in this post. I do not recommend treating this like a check ...
The only "kyoto spot" that you need to see is Fushimi Inari (did you even go to kyoto if you didnt take a picture of the tori gates?) Go early morning to Fushimi Inari, climb the mountain and go down the other side, stop at the shop selling amasake and just chill out.

A couple of people said they could pay for a watch in advance before they came to Kyoto to pick it up, but again, I prefer to walk in at anytime unless the store prefers otherwise. Has anyone ever walked in and done in store shopping at Kuoe Kyoto without booking an appointment? To anyone who has been there, how did the store look?
Hi everyone, I'm terrible at choosing things specifically hotels. I get the biggest FOMO, so I let the internet choose for me. I'd like to stay in what's considered "the best" area for a first time visitor (we're a young couple). Here are my options: Miru Kyoto Gion Miru Kyoto Nishiki Hotel Forza Kyoto Shijo Kawaramachi Kaguya Gallery Hotel Thank you!
