Home Races Boston Marathon PRESENTED BY BANK OF AMERICA 130th Boston Marathon The 130th Boston Marathon presented by Bank of America will take place on Patriots' Day, Monday, April 20, 2026.

The B.A.A. organized the first Boston Marathon in 1897, now the world’s oldest annual marathon. Today, the B.A.A., supported by our official partners, continues to champion running and wellness through distance races and year round community programs across Greater Boston.

Qualifier Registration for the 2026 Boston Marathon took place September 8 12, 2025 within the B.A.A.’s online platform, Athletes’ Village. Anyone who achieved a currently valid Boston Marathon qualifying time for their respective age and gender could apply during this time in Athletes’ Village.

Three Maurten Hydrogel stations will be located on the course: mile 11.8 on the Wellesley town line; mile 17 in Newton; and at mile 21.5 just after Boston College. Maurten’s Gel 100 (non caffeinated) and Gel 100 CAF 100 (caffeinated) will be available.

The Boston Marathon was originally called the American Marathon and was the final event of the B.A.A. Games. The first running of the Boston Marathon commenced at the site of Metcalf’s Mill in Ashland and finished at the Irvington Oval near Copley Square.
