Have you guys noticed any difference in quality and durability between Made in USA Carhartts Vs Made in Mexico ones?

I used to wear Carhartt jeans, but the style and cut they sell just do not fit well on me. It is interesting to me that a Key jean at 42X30 is a 44 or even a 46X30 in Carhart. Makes no sense, but that is what I have found. I like Carhartt for the coats and insulated gear, but their jeans are mediochre. I have had the best luck with Key or Lee.

Carhartt Duck is very loosely woven, so even with sprays or waxes it is going to be an uphill battle. Because of the loose weave I also find the durability to be more of a reputation then a fact, I find synthetic blends with a tighter weave (polycotton or NYCO) to hold up much better over time.

The only Filson waxed clothing I have is a Jacket and vest, but I’m assuming the pants would feel the same At the moment these are SUPER stiff (the Filson clothing isn’t stiff, but is definitely “heavy”) I’m going to let them set for a day and then reheat once again.

As for jeans, I pretty much wear bib overalls and lucky for me, we have a store in my town that has vintage NOS Carhartt clothing and I can get a pair when I need them.
